VLT measures the average light passing through a lens. The lower the number, the less light gets through (darker). Average lenses are 18% VLT, so our SKY 30 is an outlier and very light. A 30% VLT from any other company would do almost nothing for you. But we have notch filtering using rare earth elements, and we can selectively block lots of peak sun energy at 590NM while not blocking most available light. The result is lots of good, comfortable light, which is ideal for darker cockpits or, honestly, older eyes. The SKY 30 is our CEO's favorite lens because it's such an optical marvel.
