Aaron Kubala: Pushing the Limits in the Atacama Desert

Aaron Kubala: Pushing the Limits in the Atacama Desert

December 02, 2024

Aaron Kubala stunned the endurance world by winning the Speed Project—a grueling race from Santa Monica to Las Vegas by knocking ten hours off the previous record. Unreal! As if that wasn’t enough, he also clinched 3rd place in the Moab 240 in 2023. Equally insane. But Aaron isn’t slowing down. What’s next? An even more brutal challenge: a 300-mile trek across Chile’s Atacama Desert—one of the driest and most unforgiving landscapes on Earth. They say you can’t fix crazy, but you can ride with it—In all seriousness, Aaron is one of the most grounded guys I know. Calm, methodical, and an excellent conversationalist, he’s as down-to-earth as they come. He just happens to be a superhuman running machine.

Aaron isn’t just looking to survive this monumental race—he’s aiming to thrive and maybe even win. Facing scorching heat, unforgiving terrain, and endless horizons, Aaron relies on only the best gear to see him through, starting with Method Seven lenses, eyewear he trusts to keep him focused through every challenge.

Clarity and Protection for Every Condition

Aaron relies on Method Seven UltraTrail 26 lenses for most of his races, ensuring clear, natural vision from dawn to dusk. Specifically engineered for ultra running, Method Seven lenses reduce glare and enhance contrast in ever-changing light conditions—crucial when every step matters.. This is serious stuff—not a place for Goodr. Runners like Aaron demand better. They need the best.

During the intense heat of the day, Aaron has been spotted wearing the Evolution frame with Sun P lenses. Part of M7’s Life collection, these lenses are ideal for daily living—from living in and out of cars, coworking at a café, driving, or just scrolling on your phone. Like the UltraTrail lens, Method Seven’s Sun P features partial polarizing technology, providing just enough glare reduction without flattening your view like traditional sunglasses. More light—especially properly filtered, beneficial light—reaching your eyes means more information to your brain, resulting in safer, faster decision making. A concept Method Seven is fully committed to. As for Aaron, let’s just say he’s racking up some serious style points.

We are anxious to hear from Aaron’s crew after the race because we had them all wearing Method Seven. Working support for a runner requires the same dawn-to-dusk experience but additionally in and out of cars, tents, and buildings. The versatility of our lens should mean the crew could keep our technology in place (on the face) for the entire day. Unlike traditional glasses, you must constantly take them on and off to see as lighting changes.

Supporting Ultra-Endurance Excellence

Method Seven proudly supports Aaron and his team with only the best eyewear designed exclusively for ultra-endurance athletes. From the soft morning light of a desert sunrise to the blinding midday sun, Aaron can rely on Method Seven to provide the clarity and focus needed to conquer the toughest race of his career.

As Aaron continues his journey across the Atacama, we’re cheering him on every step of the way. This race is not only a test of endurance but also a testament to vision—both in the literal sense and his sense of determination to achieve the impossible.

Run strong, Aaron. We’ve got your eyes covered!
