Lens Technology

Method Seven’s lens technology delivers cutting-edge non-polarized glare reduction, allowing for clear, unrestricted vision without the drawbacks of polarized lenses. Using advanced notch filtering technology, Method Seven sets a new standard for optical performance and protection. Notch filtering allows for enhanced color accuracy, contrast, and clarity, providing a sharp and vibrant visual experience. Method Seven lenses provide complete UV protection and are designed to maintain clarity without distorting electronic displays or aircraft windows.

FLT Lens Technology plus minus

Method Seven’s FLT lens technology is an engineering marvel, offering the closest approach to mineral glass in a shatterproof polymer lens. These lenses feature advanced anti-fog, anti-scratch, and anti-reflective interior coatings, ensuring durability and clarity in all conditions. With a neutral gray base, the FLT lens is ideal for most pilots and suitable for use in virtually any cockpit. A blue mirror flash coating enhances performance in harshly bright sunlight, making these lenses perfect for high-glare environments. Designed for aerobatics pilots, open cockpit aircraft, or anyone sensitive to the weight of traditional glass lenses, these are the lightest pilot sunglasses available, combining unparalleled comfort with superior optical protection.

18% Visible Light Transmission plus minus

Method Seven’s FLT18 lenses feature a Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 18%, meaning they allow 18% of light to pass through the lens. This makes them perfect for most sky conditions, from overcast to clear of clouds. This versatile VLT is ideal for a broad range of pilots and aircraft, providing excellent performance in various weather conditions. With a VLT similar to the level recommended by the FAA, these lenses ensure optimal light management without sacrificing clarity or color accuracy, offering pilots superior adaptability and reliable performance across diverse flying environments.

Frame Technology

Designed for flexibility, durability, and longevity, Method Seven Pilot eyewear won't break your headset seal, ensuring you never miss a radio call. Timeless style meets endless comfort, without interruption. Developed and tested with real pilots across various professional and general aviation aircraft and cockpit configurations.

Clip ons for progesive glasses

"The clip-on flip up FLT18 is the solution to my backcountry reading glasses conundrum. My regular prescription glasses correct both for distance and reading. I have been trying to find a solution to juggling sunglasses and regular progressives. I wear the Silverton26 Trail Running glasses but wearing two sets of glasses around your neck and switching is a pain, especially when you are just trying to glance at a phone, camera, or your dashboard. Prescription progressive sunglasses are pricey, and a big ouch if you lose them as I know from personal experience Also my prescription changes over time, purchasing new glasses every year is not in my budget. When I first transitioned into reading glasses it was not obvious to me how often I needed them in the backcountry. Back in the day I would have needed them for maps and guidebooks. These days I am often reading apps such as Merlin and Peakfinder as well as menus on my phone and digital camera. When I am on Mt Kenya and I see a Malachite Sunbird and have no idea what it is, out comes my phone to ID it. When at the end of a long hike and I am presented with an ambiguous fork in the trail out comes the phone to confirm the route. The FLT18 with the flip up clip-on is my answer. They are a great solution to the reading glasses/dark glasses hassle of the backcountry. The lack of polarization means no tilting screens or head sideways. I also have been wearing them for weekends at home and kicking around town. Highly recommended."

"Lenses are great but they are too large and touch the cheeks of the intended wearer. They have to go back :-("

Great for flying/driving

"If you need prescription these are better than getting prescription sunglasses; you can flip them up to read charts, flight plans, etc then flip down for looking out into bright sun. Also great for days when it is alternately bright then overcast."

Just as promised.

"Great quality and really ease my eyes on sunny days. Even with smaller glasses than the ones in the clip-on, they work perfectly. Showed them to a few family members at Easter, and they all asked for the website info."
