Why Clear Lens Protection Matters
Most of us associate UV protection with sunglasses. Bright day, grab your shades. Cloudy day, working inside or moving between environments, probably don't think about it.
But UV radiation isn't limited to bright summer afternoons.
UV is present throughout the day and throughout the year, including during overcast conditions. It can also reach your eyes indirectly through reflected light from the surfaces around you.
That's one reason the lens itself matters.
ZEISS UVProtect technology provides UV protection up to 400 nanometers, the same level of UV protection ZEISS provides in its premium sunglasses.
And it does it in a clear lens.
Lucid also incorporates ZEISS BlueGuard technology, which selectively filters up to 40% of blue-violet light between 400 and 455 nm while leaving the longer 455–500 nm portion of the blue spectrum largely unaffected.
Instead of broadly filtering the visible spectrum or creating a heavily colored lens, BlueGuard is designed to balance selective filtration with high light transmission and a clear appearance.
That makes Lucid something very different from a sunglass lens.

The Technology Behind Lucid Lens
"Blue light blocking" has become a broad marketing term, so the specifics matter.
Lucid combines several ZEISS lens technologies, each doing a different job.
UV Protection to 400 nm
ZEISS UVProtect provides full UV protection up to 400 nm, including in a clear lens.
The UV protection is built into the lens material itself, so you don't have to put on a dark sunglass lens simply to get premium level UV protection.
Selective Blue-Violet Filtration
ZEISS BlueGuard incorporates its blue-light filtering properties directly into the lens material.
It filters up to 40% of blue-violet light in the 400–455 nm range, while largely leaving the longer 455–500 nm range unaffected.
Why not simply block more?
Because more filtration isn't automatically better.
Increasing filtration can reduce light transmission and create a noticeable yellow or orange appearance. ZEISS engineered BlueGuard to selectively filter a defined portion of the spectrum while maintaining high clarity and a more natural-looking lens.
DuraVision Gold and CleanGuard
Lucid lenses are finished with ZEISS DuraVision Gold, a premium anti-reflective coating that helps reduce distracting reflections and keeps the lens looking exceptionally clear.
That's especially useful during everyday wear, whether you're working at a computer, driving, sitting on a video call, or talking face to face. Less distracting reflection means a cleaner visual experience for you and a clearer view of your eyes for everyone else.
Lucid also features ZEISS CleanGuard, which helps make the lens easier to clean and maintain.
