Description plus minus

Built on the Patriot's lightweight titanium wraparound frame, the Patriot Trail 26 Beta pairs bayonet-style temples with Trail 26 polycarbonate lenses engineered for technical terrain. Notch filtering, partial polarization, and 26% VLT help maintain useful contrast as the trail moves between open sun and shade. Weight: 21.3 g.

Lens Technology

On technical trails, what matters is what's coming up underfoot. Method Seven Trail lens technology is tuned for contrast in rocks, roots, dirt, and changing ground textures, rather than simply making everything darker. Deep notch filtering targets selected wavelengths of light, while partial polarization manages reflected glare without stripping away useful detail. Designed for trail running, ultrarunning, mountain biking, and hiking across exposed and shaded terrain.

TRAIL Lens Technology plus minus

Designed for the runner's cockpit, the 8 to 10 feet of trail directly ahead where every detail matters. Trail 26 lenses transmit 26% of visible light, balancing brightness and contrast as you move from dawn to dusk, beneath shaded forest canopies, across sunlit trails, and over exposed mountain peaks. Precision notch filtering and partial polarization help reduce glare while preserving the terrain details you need to navigate rocks, roots, and changing surfaces. Whether you're hiking, biking, or bombing down technical descents, Trail 26 lenses help you read the trail ahead with clarity and confidence.

26% Visible Light Transmission plus minus

VLT measures the average light passing through a lens. The lower the number, the less light gets through (darker). Average lenses are 18% VLT, so our 26% VLT is on the lighter side. But remember, VLT is an average. We use notch flitering, so our lenses can have a higher VLT than most (lighter), and yet block more harsh light energy. The result? You get more good light to your eyes comfortably and safely. You make better, faster decisions and have less fatigue.

Frame Technology

Trail frames are selected for secure fit, coverage, and comfort during movement, whether you're climbing, descending, running, or riding. Frame materials and designs vary by model: flexible TR90 on the Silverton and Resistance 2; titanium on the Closer and Patriot. Each model has its own weight and temple design, so there's no one-size-fits-all frame specification.

Titanium Frame Technology plus minus

Method Seven titanium frames are hand-tooled for strength, flexibility, and lasting durability. Lightweight and naturally corrosion-resistant, titanium provides a comfortable fit while standing up to the demands of frequent flying. Its hypoallergenic properties make it suitable for extended wear, while precisely engineered temples flex to accommodate aviation headsets and flight helmets without unnecessary pressure.

The Patriot plus minus

Developed with direct input from the Patriots Jet Team, the Patriot was engineered to meet the demands of high-performance formation flying. Its lightweight titanium construction combines ultra-thin flexible temples with a secure wraparound fit, providing expansive peripheral coverage and protection from unwanted light. Designed to remain stable during high-G maneuvers, the Patriot accommodates aviation headsets, flight helmets, and oxygen equipment without compromising comfort or visibility.

Method Seven Trail

"We started by engineering specialized lenses for pilots and demanding indoor lighting. Then our runners and mountain bikers looked at the sunglasses they were wearing on the trail and asked a pretty reasonable question: why are we settling for this stuff?

Technical trails need more than a dark lens. Roots, rocks, loose dirt, stream crossings, and the next ten feet of terrain all matter. We worked with our optical engineering team to develop Trail 26, combining targeted notch filtering with partial polarization to manage glare without sacrificing the contrast runners use to read the ground.

We tested the idea in the kind of places that don't forgive bad equipment, including Colorado mountain trails and ultra-distance events. The result is specialized eyewear for trail running, ultrarunning, hiking, and mountain biking. Not a one-size-fits-all fashion statement. A tool for people who'd rather be out there."
