Lens Technology

Method Seven develops advanced, non-polarized optical technology specifically for the visual demands of aviation. Our proprietary notch filtering selectively reduces harsh wavelengths of light while preserving useful visual information, enhancing contrast, clarity, and natural color perception. Engineered to provide full UV protection without the electronic display visibility issues associated with polarized lenses, Method Seven optics help pilots maintain a clear view of instruments, aircraft windows, and the surrounding environment.

FLT Lens Technology plus minus

FLT lenses deliver Method Seven's aviation-specific notch filtering in a lightweight, impact-resistant polymer. Engineered as an alternative to traditional mineral glass, these non-polarized lenses combine a neutral gray base with a blue flash mirror coating to manage intense sunlight while preserving natural color perception. Anti-reflective interior coatings reduce distracting reflections, while protective surface treatments support durability and clear vision. Their lightweight construction makes FLT lenses particularly well suited for aerobatic flying, open-air aircraft, and extended wear.

25% Visible Light Transmission plus minus

At 25% Visible Light Transmission (VLT), FLT Rx lenses allow more visible light to reach the eyes than darker sunglass tints. Method Seven's advanced notch filtering selectively reduces harsh wavelengths while preserving useful light, contrast, and natural color perception. Designed specifically for prescription aviation eyewear, this lighter tint supports comfortable daytime flying and clear visibility of instruments and electronic displays across changing light conditions.

Frame Technology

Method Seven Pilot frames are engineered for the specific demands of aviation, combining lightweight materials, flexibility, durability, and a secure fit. Our headset-compatible designs feature ultra-thin temples that minimize pressure, help maintain headset seals, and reduce interference with flight helmets and oxygen equipment. Developed and tested with professional and general aviation pilots, each frame is purpose-built for comfort, stability, and clear communication during flight.

The Ascent plus minus

The Ascent brings modern engineering to the classic aviator. Hand-tooled from lightweight titanium, its flexible bayonet temples taper to less than 1 mm, reducing pressure and helping maintain headset seals during extended flights. Rubberized nose pads provide a secure, comfortable fit, while the streamlined design accommodates aviation headsets, flight helmets, and oxygen equipment when properly fitted.

Frame size: 58–14–140 mm | Lens height: 40.4 mm | Base curve: 6 | Weight: 21 g FLT / 31 g SKY

Titanium Frame Technology plus minus

Method Seven titanium frames are hand-tooled for strength, flexibility, and lasting durability. Lightweight and naturally corrosion-resistant, titanium provides a comfortable fit while standing up to the demands of frequent flying. Its hypoallergenic properties make it suitable for extended wear, while precisely engineered temples flex to accommodate aviation headsets and flight helmets without unnecessary pressure.

Method Seven Pilot

Method Seven scientifically develops eyewear engineered for the unique visual demands of aviation. Through in-house optical research, precision engineering, and extensive field testing with professional and general aviation pilots, we create purpose-built lenses and frames that enhance clarity, contrast, comfort, and protection. Our mission is to unlock the full potential of the most important flight instrument of all: the human eye.

Eric Tucker

Method Seven is all I wear when soul surfing the skies.

Airshow pilot Eric Tucker holds single-engine commercial, multiengine ATP, CFI, and glider and floatplane ratings, with over 6,000 hours logged. Coming from a long line of aviators, including his father who is an airshow pilot and crop duster, Tucker had his first airplane ride before he was born. Today, he wows crowds by landing a Piper J-3 Cub on top of an ambulance speeding down the runway at 55 mph.

The BEST!!!

"These sunglasses are the very best! High quality all the way around, frames, lenses, fit, function, style. The sales people know the products and care about them being right for you. Great experience working with the sales people all the way through to now wearing the sunglasses!"

Method Seven Customer Service is Top Notch!

"I bought a pair of Method Seven prescription sunglasses this fall. When my eye Dr office wouldn’t cooperate with me to measure me for transition lenses because I wasn’t buying them from them, the Method Seven Customer Service team jumped right in and found a place near me that would do it! Their chain of communication was fabulous as well staying in the loop with what was happening with my order. I highly recommend Method Seven!"

Just O.K.

"I had higher hopes for these glasses as although they're well made (but delicate), they fall short of meeting my expectations at this price. First, I wish the embedded bifocal lenses were larger/longer to cover the entire lower portion of the lens. Second, the lenses are not dark enough for moderate to bright sunlight conditions as I'm squinting if it's anything brighter than overcast conditions. Finally, the mirror outer finish, while a nice touch, doesn't seem to have any real function other than as a nostalgic throw back to an earlier aviator look which is not that flattering to an old guy like me! Debating whether to return these within the free return 30 day window (as, again, for the price) they're not quite meeting my needs."

I love these sunglasses. I

"I love these sunglasses. I sent them in to have my prescription added to them and they noticed a flaw in my original sunglasses, so they replaced them and added my prescription. Great communication from the company all the way through the process. LOVE this Company."

— Carla H. (5/5)

Great build and clarity

"My 4th pair of Method Seven sunglasses, but first Rx. Great clarity in the lenses and build quality. I slightly prefer the wrap form factor over the aviator, so if there is any way to bring Rx to those lenses I’ll buy another!"

— Robert C. (5/5)

Good to fly not to drive

"Glare from sun reflections from other cars much worse than with polarized lenses but avionics displays easier to see."

— Ron D. (4/5)

Initial impressions

"Its nice when you are pleasantly surprised by a product - such is the case with my new Ascent Aviator glasses. I haven't had a chance to fly with them yet as my plane is in the shop but have driven with them and they are terrific. They nailed the the progressive prescription dead on. Will try to follow up once I've flown with them and give further feedback. Also very solid customer service."
