Meet the Method Seven FLT Rx lens. An advanced polymer lens featuring notch filtering, enhanced contrast, and impossible clarity. Full UV and infrared heat protection in a lightweight and shatterproof neutral gray lens.

Lens Technology

A different approach to optics

Most sunglasses are too dark, overly polarized, and primarily about fashion. They may make you squint less but don't help you see better.

We fixed that with our notch filtering technology.

We filter light with such precision that we can eliminate a specific wavelength (light color/energy) you don't need and enhance the wavelengths you do. It's noise-canceling for your eyes. You see better, are more relaxed, and can always keep your glasses on - in the car, in the cafe, and scrolling your phone.

FLT Lens Technology plus minus

FLT lenses deliver Method Seven's aviation-specific notch filtering in a lightweight, impact-resistant polymer. Engineered as an alternative to traditional mineral glass, these non-polarized lenses combine a neutral gray base with a blue flash mirror coating to manage intense sunlight while preserving natural color perception. Anti-reflective interior coatings reduce distracting reflections, while protective surface treatments support durability and clear vision. Their lightweight construction makes FLT lenses particularly well suited for aerobatic flying, open-air aircraft, and extended wear.

25% Visible Light Transmission plus minus

At 25% Visible Light Transmission (VLT), FLT Rx lenses allow more visible light to reach the eyes than darker sunglass tints. Method Seven's advanced notch filtering selectively reduces harsh wavelengths while preserving useful light, contrast, and natural color perception. Designed specifically for prescription aviation eyewear, this lighter tint supports comfortable daytime flying and clear visibility of instruments and electronic displays across changing light conditions.

Frame Technology

Method Seven Pilot frames are engineered for the specific demands of aviation, combining lightweight materials, flexibility, durability, and a secure fit. Our headset-compatible designs feature ultra-thin temples that minimize pressure, help maintain headset seals, and reduce interference with flight helmets and oxygen equipment. Developed and tested with professional and general aviation pilots, each frame is purpose-built for comfort, stability, and clear communication during flight.

The Ascent plus minus

The Ascent brings modern engineering to the classic aviator. Hand-tooled from lightweight titanium, its flexible bayonet temples taper to less than 1 mm, reducing pressure and helping maintain headset seals during extended flights. Rubberized nose pads provide a secure, comfortable fit, while the streamlined design accommodates aviation headsets, flight helmets, and oxygen equipment when properly fitted.

Frame size: 58–14–140 mm | Lens height: 40.4 mm | Base curve: 6 | Weight: 21 g FLT / 31 g SKY

Titanium Frame Technology plus minus

Method Seven titanium frames are hand-tooled for strength, flexibility, and lasting durability. Lightweight and naturally corrosion-resistant, titanium provides a comfortable fit while standing up to the demands of frequent flying. Its hypoallergenic properties make it suitable for extended wear, while precisely engineered temples flex to accommodate aviation headsets and flight helmets without unnecessary pressure.

Method Seven Pilot

Method Seven scientifically develops eyewear engineered for the unique visual demands of aviation. Through in-house optical research, precision engineering, and extensive field testing with professional and general aviation pilots, we create purpose-built lenses and frames that enhance clarity, contrast, comfort, and protection. Our mission is to unlock the full potential of the most important flight instrument of all: the human eye.

Eric Tucker

Method Seven is all I wear when soul surfing the skies.

Airshow pilot Eric Tucker holds single-engine commercial, multiengine ATP, CFI, and glider and floatplane ratings, with over 6,000 hours logged. Coming from a long line of aviators, including his father who is an airshow pilot and crop duster, Tucker had his first airplane ride before he was born. Today, he wows crowds by landing a Piper J-3 Cub on top of an ambulance speeding down the runway at 55 mph.
