ALTITUDE FLT18

Pilot Sunglasses

$225.00

Description plus minus

Lightweight and shatterproof, FLT lenses are the first to offer notch filtering in a durable polymer. Medium tint and a VLT of 18% makes these pilot sunglasses a great choice for general and mixed conditions.

Lens Technology

Method Seven develops advanced, non-polarized optical technology specifically for the visual demands of aviation. Our proprietary notch filtering selectively reduces harsh wavelengths of light while preserving useful visual information, enhancing contrast, clarity, and natural color perception. Engineered to provide full UV protection without the electronic display visibility issues associated with polarized lenses, Method Seven optics help pilots maintain a clear view of instruments, aircraft windows, and the surrounding environment.

FLT Lens Technology plus minus

FLT lenses deliver Method Seven's aviation-specific notch filtering in a lightweight, impact-resistant polymer. Engineered as an alternative to traditional mineral glass, these non-polarized lenses combine a neutral gray base with a blue flash mirror coating to manage intense sunlight while preserving natural color perception. Anti-reflective interior coatings reduce distracting reflections, while protective surface treatments support durability and clear vision. Their lightweight construction makes FLT lenses particularly well suited for aerobatic flying, open-air aircraft, and extended wear.

18% Visible Light Transmission plus minus

At 18% Visible Light Transmission (VLT), Method Seven lenses provide a versatile tint for a broad range of daytime flying conditions, from overcast skies to bright sunshine. Advanced notch filtering selectively reduces harsh light while preserving useful visual information, natural color perception, and contrast. This balanced light transmission makes 18% VLT a practical choice for pilots flying in varied weather, lighting conditions, and aircraft.

Frame Technology

Method Seven Pilot frames are engineered for the specific demands of aviation, combining lightweight materials, flexibility, durability, and a secure fit. Our headset-compatible designs feature ultra-thin temples that minimize pressure, help maintain headset seals, and reduce interference with flight helmets and oxygen equipment. Developed and tested with professional and general aviation pilots, each frame is purpose-built for comfort, stability, and clear communication during flight.

The Altitude plus minus

The Altitude combines a contoured TR90 thermoplastic front with flexible titanium temples for a balance of lightweight comfort and peripheral light protection. Its wraparound design provides additional coverage from sunlight entering at the sides, while ultra-thin titanium temples help maintain headset seals and accommodate flight helmets. Particularly well suited for narrow to average face shapes, the Altitude delivers a secure, comfortable fit for extended flying.

Frame size: 61–15–130 mm | Lens height: 36 mm | Base curve: 8 | Weight: 23.6 g FLT / 33.5 g SKY

Hybrid TR90 + Titanium Frame Technology plus minus

Method Seven's hybrid frame technology combines a lightweight TR90 thermoplastic front with flexible titanium temples, bringing together the advantages of two purpose-built materials. The contoured TR90 front provides durable construction, a secure fit, and expanded peripheral light protection, while ultra-thin titanium temples minimize pressure and help maintain headset seals. Developed for the Altitude, this hybrid design balances wraparound coverage with the comfort and compatibility required for aviation headsets and flight helmets.

Great flying shades!!

"I am a corporate pilot in my 50s and I can’t see as well anymore in low light but with these glasses I can see everything very clearly in a darkened cockpit and the electronic screens don’t black out on me. I wear these glasses everywhere now and get tons of compliments for the styling. Highly recommend!!"

Absolutely Amazing

"They’re perfect aviator eyewear however I used a traditional lens wipe on them to try to clean and now they have a permanent fog layer on them. I would recommend using a cloth to clean them."

— Carson B. (3/5)

Better Than Expected

"I recently bought a pair, and what a difference! For years I’ve used high end name brand sunglasses that were supposedly tailored for aviators, but none of them come close to the Altitude. I’ve noticed a massive difference in clarity, eye fatigue, and glare after many hours of flying in different conditions. After a long day of flying, my eyes are no longer tired and aching. The frames are very comfortable under a headset for long periods of time. If you’re on the fence about getting a pair, just do it. Your eyes will thank you!"
