Lens Technology

Method Seven grow room optics are designed using notch filtering technology to precisely block specific wavelengths of light to achieve color balance for each type of grow light. Then we trick them out using many different types of coatings across the various lens spectrums. A few examples include resin repel, anti-reflective, anti-fog, and petrol mirror for the absolute best clarity and durability.

FX2 Lens Technology plus minus

The FX2 lens is the result of years of dedicated research, developed in collaboration with the world’s leading LED light manufacturers and engineers. It's the biggest innovation in growing since LED lights.

Our lens provides precise filtering of the LED spectrum, reducing spikes in the 660nm to 700nm and 385nm to 440nm ranges. It offers complete UV protection, blocking increased UV from newer LED fixtures with chips below 400nm. The FX2 lens eliminates the spots and floaters that many people experience when working under LED lights, ensuring clear vision. Brightness is perfectly reduced, allowing you to see above or below your canopy without ever removing your glasses, regardless of LED settings. Additionally, the lens features multiple advanced coatings, including resin repel, anti-reflection, anti-fog, and petrol mirror, for maximum performance and comfort.

Resin Repel plus minus

An industrial grade anti-fog and anti-stick coating that is applied to both sides of the lens. Not only does it protect the other coatings underneath it also makes wiping sticky resin off the lenses a breeze. The coating was initially developed for The Navy Seals. We tweaked it to resist resin, which, understandably, isn't something the Navy was concerned about. LOL. True story.

Frame Technology

Our Grow frames are designed in California and made in Italy with thermo-injected TR90 polymers. These materials can withstand the heat and professional rigors of the home basement grow or the biggest commercial facilities.

Emerald Tortoise Color plus minus

From afar, the Emerald Tortoise frame pattern appears subtle. Yet, as you approach and light dances upon it from different angles, a multitude of Emerald hues burst out, creating a truly distinctive style.

This mirrors the essence of Growing Exposed. Just as many buildings or farms may seem unremarkable from a distance, once the film crew steps inside and unveils the narrative of these farms, a vibrant world of Emerald cannabis comes to life for all to experience.

TR90 Frame Technology plus minus

Injected thermoplastic technology - the lightest, strongest way to make a sports or performance frame. If it's not titanium, it better be TR90.

The Evolution plus minus

An Italian design twist on a California classic square-flat frame. One of our most popular frames, it fits everyone perfectly. It's excellent for broad faces with its concealed flex hinges and also looks super cool on smaller faces. Made from thermo-injected polymer in Italy, these frames are polished smooth and offer a timeless style.

Method Seven Grow

We invented Grow Room glasses in 2009. Our founder, Jeff Goldberg, was a photographer for High Times Magazine and managed several successful grow rooms. He struggled to get good shots of his plants under High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lights because everything appeared washed out in yellow. Inspired by neodymium glass-blowing goggles, he wondered if he could create a lens to balance HPS light.

After a few years of research and collaboration with a German optical chemist, we nailed it. It took rare earth elements to perfectly balance the HPS light. Along the way, we discovered we were also blocking infrared heat and all dangerous UV rays—bonus!

That's also how we got our name. Seven steps in the scientific method combined with rare earth elements to make a lens unlike any other in existence. And so, Method Seven was born. We've kept developing specific lenses for every type of grow light, including our latest master project, the FX2, for use with full spectrum LED lights. The lights keep evolving, and we continue to innovate to ensure our customers are safe and produce the best harvests possible. And yes, many of our crew still grow. Thanks, Jeff.

Growing Exposed and Justin Cooper

"I was one of the first to try Method Seven glasses back in 2010, I think. The first HPS glasses. I remember being blown away. M7 is all I've worn since. Honestly, I pretty much help make the company. I think they owe me... LOL. Seriously, the fastest and simplest way to become a better grower is just to put on the shades and really see what's happening. That's it."
-Justin Cooper

Justin Cooper is the charismatic host of the popular web series "Growing Exposed," which provides an inside look at the world of cannabis cultivation.
Growing Exposed is the original garden tour series documenting the exciting journey and historic moments of the cannabis industry, while offering viewers an unprecedented look behind the scenes at the “movers and shakers” who drive our industry forward.
With a background deeply rooted in the horticulture industry, Justin brings knowledge and a genuine passion for cannabis growing to the show.
